I’m an Instructional designer specialising in eLearning design and development. I’m currently working as an Online Education Designer (OED) at La Trobe University where I work with academics to translate their expertise into tangible, high quality courses. Before joining the university I was the Senior eLearning designer for Gymnastics Australia where I developed online education for over 8,000 coaches and judges. Here are some courses I’m proud of.

Gamification

Designed for new coaches aged between 15 and 22 the Self-Reflective Detective Course is a gamified online learning experience that fosters self-reflection in coaching practices.

Inspired by nostaglic handheld console gaming, it allows learners to navigate through content autonomously, encouraging exploration and engagement. Currently available as an adjunct to technical coaching skill courses.

The Beginner Judge Course Ethics Module, part of the online Beginner Trampoline Course, seamlessly transitions a traditional face-to-face ethics workshop into an asynchronous digital experience. Set against the backdrop of a fictional gymnastics club, it caters to a broad audience, from complete novices to former athletes and coaches, ensuring the principles of ethics are accessible and engaging. Learners tackle interactive scenarios that simulate real-life ethical dilemmas, providing a practical foundation for further learning.

The Difficult Conversation Branching Scenario module, featured in the National Club Coach Educator Mentor Course, offers an interactive choose-your-own-adventure experience that empowers learners to navigate through challenging conversations. This module is crafted following Richard Mayer's principles of design, prioritizing learner engagement and comprehension. It provides an opportunity for users to make decisions, recognize and correct mistakes, and explore deeper levels of dialogue, enhancing their skills in managing difficult discussions effectively.

Prepare for an epic adventure with your D&D party.

Operation Thunderbolt is a Dungeons & Dragons One-Shot Adventure introduction course that offers a unique online pre-game experience. Meticulously crafted to set the stage for players it is designed for repeatability, eliminating the need for Game Masters to deliver the same exposition to new playing groups. It details the stakes of the adventure and guides players on character creation to fit the narrative.

What I accomplished for Gymnastics Australia.

  • Designed and developed 32 custom eLearning courses for distinct cohorts by analysing learner data and consulting with industry SMEs.

  • Spearheaded the redevelopment of the beginner coach accreditation pathway, reducing average course completion time from 2.5 years to under 6 months, by implementing instructional design best practices and incorporating a Community of Practice for blended learning.

  • Trained over 400 coach mentors by designing and developing the national Club Coach Educator (CCE) accreditation to meet needs identified in the ‘Change the Routine’ report.

  • Transitioned traditional face-to-face beginner judge accreditation courses to online, asynchronous delivery, enhancing accessibility for individuals in remote areas, enabling self-paced learning and significantly reducing the logistical burden for state organizations.

  • Enhanced the agility of the course development process by integrating generative AI tools with authoring platforms such as Articulate Storyline and the Adobe suite, significantly accelerating prototyping speed.
