I’m an educator passionate about crafting fun learning activities that create lasting change.

Arrow pointing right

As an eLearning specialist I’m able to combine my experiences as a Graphic Artist, Army instructor and workshop facilitator to create impactful instructional design. I currently work for La Trobe University where I work with academics from different schools to create transformative online courses.

I’m driven by curiosity for new information and empathy for learners experiencing content for the first time. Central to both is a need for clear communication. I enjoy meeting with subject matter experts and figuring out how to translate their knowledge into manageable chunks that can be easily shared with new audiences. Although I primarily work in the online space, I have extensive experience as a face-to-face trainer and facilitator. The skills I gained as a Corporal leading a catering detachment in the Army reserve and as a Public Speaking Trainer have been invaluable in allowing me to develop blended learning activities.

When I’m not designing education, I can likely be found experimenting in the kitchen, reading epic fantasy or hiking Victoria’s high country.

Key Achievements

  • Spearheaded the redevelopment of the beginner coach accreditation pathway, reducing average course completion time from 2.5 years to under 6 months, by implementing instructional design best practices and incorporating a Community of Practice for blended learning.

  • Trained over 400 coach mentors by designing and developing the national Club Coach Educator (CCE) accreditation to meet needs identified in the ‘Change the Routine’ report.

  • Transitioned traditional face-to-face beginner judge accreditation courses to online, asynchronous delivery, enhancing accessibility for individuals in remote areas, enabling self-paced learning and significantly reducing the logistical burden for state organizations.

  • Facilitated group workshops on presentation skills for over 200 individuals, with a focus on building confidence and mastering impromptu speaking. The course used progressive scaffolding and targeted feedback and reflection to enhance user experience.

  • As a Corporal responsible for training, I trained and assessed 8 new recruits at the 4th Combat Service Support Battalion. I taught catering and basic soldier skills, fostering their career progression and culminating in their accreditation as Private Proficient, preparing them for deployment and autonomous work.
